This release introduces meaningful improvements to Custom Attributes, giving administrators greater control over the data employees provide during signature workflows. We have significantly expanded this feature to make it easier to collect consistent, structured information across your organization.

Administrators can now define predefined option lists for any attribute. This allows employees to select a value from a controlled dropdown menu rather than manually entering free text. This removes inconsistencies caused by varied spelling, formatting, or terminology—making your data immediately usable for reporting, filtering, and downstream integrations.

Four field types are now available when configuring a Custom Attribute:

Field Type

Description

Best used for

Image

Allows the employee to upload an image file

Profile photos, team logos, ID scans

Text

Single-line free text input

Job title, employee ID, office location

Text Area

Multi-line free text input

Certifications, bio, address details

Dropdown List

list of selectable options

Department, region, contract type

As an admin, you configure these predefined option lists at the attribute level. Once set, employees will see the dropdown options during the User Data Collection step of their signature workflow. Because no free text entry is permitted for dropdown fields, you can ensure all responses strictly conform to your approved list.

How to configure: To create or update a Custom Attribute with a predefined option list:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Custom Attributes.

  2. Select an existing attribute or create a new one.

  3. Choose Dropdown List as the field type and add your predefined options.

Note: Existing Custom Attributes configured as free text fields are not affected by this update. You can optionally migrate any existing text attribute to a dropdown at any time by editing it in Settings.
